The Demolition Continues

We are in day 4 of tearing out the plaster, lath and insulation.  Here’s what it’s looking like:

what's left of the bathroom (nothing but studs)

plaster out of the kitchen--lath and insulation still to go

Upstairs north room, completely demo'd. Those bags are full of cellulose insulation from the walls & ceiling

Paul finishing the tear down of the upstairs' ceiling. Safety first!

We have the dumpster until Friday, so that is our deadline for finishing the kitchen demo and, if there’s still room (and time), doing demo in the main floor office.  I’m calling this our marathon week–a ton of hard work in one week so we can get started on the next steps.  Wish us luck!

About Leigh

Born and raised in Rochester, MN, Leigh moved to the Twin Cities in 2004 for college. She stayed, and now works for a south metro city in the recycling department. In February of 2011, she and Paul bought a neglected farm house in the city to start our own urban hobby farm.

have you hired a plaster contractor?

    • We actually decided not to re-plaster; when the time comes, we’ll be putting up sheet rock. It’s not historically accurate, but it’s cheaper and easier to work with. I’ll be putting up our master plan in the next week or so, since I know a lot of people are curious what the end-product will be.
