Photo of the Week: Little Roses That Could

Oh little rose bushes, what can’t you do?  Right when I thought these roses had given all they’ve got, I find this:

The plants managed to eke out two blooms on Friday morning.  Well, probably closer to one and a half, as half of the pink one got eaten before I got there.  Which is the other thing: the rose blooms are different colors?  The two flowers are on the same plant, so perhaps it’s some sort of a hybrid?  Has anyone ever heard of a color-changing rose?  I suppose the thing about “inheriting” a rose bush, if you will, is that I have absolutely no knowledge about it.  Which could be considered a good thing, since then everything is a bit of a surprise!  Like Christmas in rose form.

About Leigh

Born and raised in Rochester, MN, Leigh moved to the Twin Cities in 2004 for college. She stayed, and now works for a south metro city in the recycling department. In February of 2011, she and Paul bought a neglected farm house in the city to start our own urban hobby farm.
